How Do Travel Advisors Get Paid?
I was asked this question last week.
So here is the answer.
We get paid when you book with us.
We are paid a commission by the suppliers such as Sunwing, Transat, Air Canada Vacations, Westjet Vacations, Globus, Trafalgar and more.
If we look up information for you and meet with you and bring you brochures we have ordered for you, or send you a few options for travel that we have looked up on-line for you, we do not get paid for this service.
We get paid after you travel. If you book a trip and it does not depart for a year, we do not get paid until after you depart.
If you book a trip and later cancel, we do not get paid.
If we print off itineraries or tickets for you because your printer is not working or you do not have a printer, we do not get paid for this service.

* registering with the Canadian embassy when travelling in a foreign country
* health related services for those with mobility issues or travelling with medical equipment such as cpap machines
* arranging for wheelchair assistance at the airport
* arranging for medical equipment or special dietary needs on a cruise
* explaining emergency travel insurance
* calling the airport every day to make sure the plane has not changed and the seats have been re-assigned before departure
* available after hours when clients get into trouble in a foreign country
* assisting a client in Europe when their transportation did not show up
*explaining trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance
